Kingsport: Humor and Hairstyles

Two of the greatest benefits to processing the Business and Professional Women’s Club collection is the opportunity to observe the group’s humorous outlook and their representation of current fashions. I bring you several examples in today’s blog!

The club had a newsletter called the “Broadcaster.” The following was a biographical survey passed out to new members.

I read this and just laughed out loud. OTHER REMARKS: (not aimed at me please). Would have loved to have known that newsletter editor!!

The following photographs represent the very best hair fashions from 1969-1971. Enjoy!

Sometimes being an Archiventurist doesn’t feel like work at all. Sometimes it’s just fun!

P.S. This week the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) hosted a lecture on the document theft case of Barry Landau and Jason Savedoff. The lecture was streamed live on UStream and my Twitter question was read and answered live on air. Pretty exciting to hear my first name uttered from a NARA venue. In the words of Anna Roueche, “Go me!”
